Ushers Ministry
“Contribute to the needs of the saints and seek to show hospitality.”
Romans 12:13
This is our Ministry Motto here at the Agape ushering ministry. Whether in the parking lot or in the sanctuary, often times it is an “usher” that has the opportunity to make a first impression to someone visiting for the first time. Ushering is truly a ministry of great importance and responsibility. Being an “usher” is being involved in the vision and direction of our church, being the first face visitors and members meet.
There are many needs that need to be met during the course of any meeting, and it is our ushering teams that are greatly relied upon to meet those needs. The “usher” is an integral part of the flow of every service, serving the needs of the pastoral staff, worship leaders, children’s workers, and congregation.
Beyond service program greeting, monitoring, and collection times it is often that an usher’s presence is required in our parking lot areas. Directing traffic to utilize all available spaces, directing traffic to avoid congestion, and monitoring cross walk areas for safety are some of these times. Throughout the course of a year, many meetings take place, most of which require ushers assistance. The majority of the meetings are scheduled service times, taking place on Saturdays, Sundays and during the week. Alongside those are special events. A special event would be described as a meeting or function other than our regularly scheduled meetings on SUNDAY, which would require ushers assistance. Some examples of special events may include guest speakers on a mid-week service; weddings, which may require parking assistance; funerals; banquets; fellowship gatherings or any meeting or event other than our regular services that would require usher assistance.
The Sunday teams rotate every service, and ushers are asked to keep notice of the monthly rotation schedules distributed.
